2nd Symposium on biology of non-weedy hemiparasitic Orobanchaceae

České Budějovice, September xx-xx 2008

Pubs
České Budějovice is full of various pubs in which you will have plenty of opportunities to taste excellent Czech beer. Czech pubs are cheap in general (extremely cheap if compared to common West-European pub prices). This especially applies for beer which costs from 15 to 30 CZK. We expect that a pub session will take place every evening during the meeting. We're not going to book a single pub but rather try a number of them.

Language
The official language of the meeting is English. The communication in English outside university might be difficult in some cases. In particular, older people don't speak English (however some other languges e. g. German or Russian might work).Young people tend to have generally better knowledge of English (often pretty good) so in case of difficulties with communication don't hesitate to ask surrounding people for help.

Currency
The official currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech Crown (CZK). 1 EUR is approximately 27 CZK. Euro is not widely accepted but can be easily exchanged (better in small exchange offices than in banks which charge high exchange fees). Major credit cards are accepted in most shops.

Climate
The beginning of September corresponds to late summer in České Budějovice. Mean temperature can vary ca. from 18 to 28 centigrades during the day and should not drop below 10 centigrades during the night. Slightly colder weather can be axpected during the excursion to the Šumava Mts. The level of precipitations cannot be estimated as it is highly variable from (heavy) rains to no precipitations at all (fortunately the first extreme is rather inprobable)

Disclaimer
The organisers cannot accept any liability for damages and/or losses of any kind which may be incurred by the conference participants or by any persons accompanying them, both during the official activities and the excursions.
