Abstract: In Central Europe, Meesia triquetra is considered as glacial relic species. In Slovakia, this moss species rarely grows in fens in the northern part of the country, especially in the Orava and Tatry regions. Only historical, long-time unconfirmed localities are related to the Nízke Tatry Mts. In 2010, the occurence of Meesia triquetra in the Nízke Tatry Mts was confirmed in two localities, near the villages of Liptovská Lúžna and Vikartovce.
